Gathering Blue and The Messenger! Both are great... they are more like companions in that they don't pick up immediately after The Giver ends, but they are so wonderful and well worth the read.

i just got A Wrinkle In Time because i have been embarrassed forever that i have never read a L'Engle book. i'm staring at it right now. getting started on that series and the narnia books are on my 2012 list.

and oh my word, i have MAD love for the His Dark Materials books, although i didn't read them as a child.

love your list. of course, there are some on here that i need to read, being that we are so like-minded, so i'll probably come back to do some research on them. :)Asheley T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03908795522290889438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7919630746206307611.post-66909757529548747232011-12-06T08:50:27.967-05:002011-12-06T08:50:27.967-05:00I've only just heard of The Giver (I picked up...I've only just heard of The Giver (I picked up a copy in a budget bookstore on a whim) and had no idea how popular it is.
