It's Monday! What Are You Reading? & Mailbox Monday

Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  We share books that we've read over the past week and those we hope to read this week.

Last Week:
While on vacation, I finished several books:
  • Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
  • Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness (ZOMG! What a great ending to the series!)
  • To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis
  • and I'm halfway through the (extremely) long Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey
This Week:
I'd like to finish Kushiel's Dart and then...well, I'm not sure.  I'm thinking perhaps Life of Pi by Yann Martel and Ill Wind by Rachel Caine.

Mailbox Monday is a touring meme where book bloggers share their bookish acquisitions from the week prior.  It is hosted this month by Anna at Diary of an Eccentric.

Purchased:
A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan (Kindle ebook sale!!)

The Girl with Glass Feet by Ali Shaw

Library:
A Sight for Sore Eyes by Ruth Rendell (for the Btown Booksters meeting this month)

  1. A Long Long Sleep looks very good. I didn't enjoy Life of Pi. Happy Reading!

  2. What did you think of Case Histories? I listened to it on audio and was surprised by the wry sense of humor and thought it was pretty good but I was expecting more, I think.

  3. YAY FOREVER to Monsters of Men.

And Life of Pi was one of those books I thought was okay and then I ended up LOVING.

  4. I want to read Life of Pi; I know it's one of those "should read" books. I look forward to seeing what you think of it! Happy reading this week!

  5. @MrsQ - Yep, I'm excited for A Long, Long Sleep!

@barklesswagmore - I liked it, but I also expected a bit more. The beginning was slow for me...I felt like everything came together in the last 30 pages!

    @Lisa - I second your YAY :)

@JP - I've had it on my shelves for far too long, and I agree, I've heard it's one of those "should read" books.

  6. AAAHHHHHHH!!!! I could cry I'm so glad you FINALLY finished MoM. Although it took me FOREVER to finish. So emotionally zapping, that book, but well-worth the time invested. That series is just pure gold.

I just bought Life of Pi at Goodwill a few weeks ago.

I was thinking of getting A Long, Long Sleep too, but I haven't done it yet.

But YAY for the Ness books! I'm SO HAPPY!!

  7. I've been tempted by Jacqueline Carey's books a few times but the length does put me off a bit. I've had The Girl With Glass Feet for ages and only last week did I realise it was written by a man, it just looks so girly (at least my edition does). I'm sure I'll get around to it some time.
