It's Monday! What Are You Reading? & Mailbox Monday

Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  We share books that we've read over the past week and those we hope to read this week.

Last Week:
I wasn't as prolific of a reader as last week...but hey, I chose some outdoor activities over reading this past weekend (which I don't regret for a second).  I read some fluffy summer reads:

  • What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen (now I know why everyone loves Dessen!)
  • Rumor Has It by Jill Mansell
Next Week:
I'll be going on vacation for 10 days starting Thursday (my 4 year wedding anniversary)!  Due to travel, I'll probably only be reading on my flights (going on a California extravaganza - look out San Francisco, Napa Valley, and Lake Tahoe)!  I'm still working on The Last Werewolf - the beginning is so slow and I haven't been able to make myself sit down and read more than a handful of pages at a time...but maybe plane travel will change that.  I'm also reading:

  • The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta
  • Karma by Cathy Ostlere
  • Sister Mischief by Laura Goode

Mailbox Monday is a touring meme where book bloggers share their bookish acquisitions from the week prior.  It is hosted this month by (one of my favorite book bloggers) Life in the Thumb.

This week I received some great ARCs!

French Lessons by Ellen Sussman

The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta...enter to win an ARC copy HERE

Winters in Bloom by Lisa Tucker

  1. Summer is totally for getting outdoors! Sometimes it's just not possible to read as much as we might like. I really love the cover of Karma, I haven't seen it before - it's just beautiful. Was What Happened to Goodbye your first Dessen? She is great, but I get frustrated because all of her books are the same (good, but really the same).

Happy Reading! Megan @ Read It, See It

  8. Thanks for stopping by everybody!

@Megan - yep, it was my first Dessen read...I'm sad to hear that her books aren't very varied. Maybe when I'm in the mood for a similar read I'll pick up another of her books :)

  10. I'm thrilled that you experienced Dessen and want more. She's fantastic IMHO and really has her pulse on what makes a teen girl act the way she does etc. I also love Mansell..she's the best at Brit Chick Lit! I just reviewed French Lessons last week, loved it!! Made me want to visit Paris immediately!I'm curious as to why those shoes are smoking in Perrotta's book. And I'm interested in Winters in Bloom too!! Have a great anniversary trip and enjoy yourself!!!

  13. I really need to read a Dessen. I always tell people I'm embarrassed because she lives in NC and I should support my NC authors better. I like that you liked it; it makes me think that I will like it. I think we have a similar taste. The rest of these look really neat too.

  17. One of the things I like about traveling is how much reading I can get done. I hope you have fun on your trip!
