Top Ten Tuesday

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this week's topic: Top Ten Books You Loved But Never Wrote A Review For (either books you loved and couldn't bring yourself to write a review for or books that you read long before blogging...time to give them a shoutout!).

  1.  Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See...one of my favorite books about female friendship!
  2. All three books from the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman...read these as a youngster and loved them!
  3. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett...such a fun book!
  4. The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell...a unique premise and wonderful novel (plus Emilio Sandoz is a fantastic character)!
  5. The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery...loved this character-driven gem!
  6. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger...one of my most beloved books (which elicits quite a response from others, it seems that most people either love it or hate it).
  7. The Book Thief by Markus Zusack...so sad, so lovely!
  8. The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley...childhood favorite :)
  9. The Thirteenth Tale by Dianne Setterfield...read this for book club and had a fantastic time with this gothic bookish mystery!
  10. Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald...my favorite book from one of my favorite writers :)

  3. I reviewed the Elegance of the Hedgehog, which I gave a 5, I believe. The other books look good. I can understand not having time to review all the books you read! Here's a tease from my current read.

  5. I had SUCH a hard time finishing the Dark Materials books! The first book I LOOOVED and couldn't wait to read the others, but halfway through the second book I found myself dragging and dragging. Then when Mary (I'm not even sure I'm remembering correctly) met the wheeled characters, I started reading just dialoge.

Elegance of the Hedgehog was a pleasant surprise to me... and the ending ... oh the ending.

  7. The list is especially interesting because of the ones that I have read, I can see not even being ABLE to write a review, either because it's a "classic" or because it's just so, so, well, how would one describe The Book Thief? Different?!!
