Top Ten Tuesday: Best of 2012

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this week's topic: Top Ten Books I Read in 2012.

1.  The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller - my fave of the year!

2.  Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt - a close second fave.

3.  The Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - thought-provoking and unique.

4. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder - best YA fantasy.

5.  Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey - best epic fantasy!

6.  Flat Out Love by Jessica Park - best romantic dramedy.

7.  To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis - hilarious tale of time-travel.

8.  The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - best book about dying, life, friendship and loads more!

9.  Code Name Verity by - best historical YA.

10. Bossypants and Let's Pretend This Never Happened (which I will finish on my next car trip) - great audiobooks that provide the LOLz.

  1. Oh man, I've only read two books on your list (Bossypants and Flat Out Love)! I need, need, need to read The Song of Achilles after hearing you speak so highly of it! Maybe over the holidays? We shall see!

  2. I love to read a book that can make me laugh, I cannot believe I have not read Bossypants or Lets Pretend this never Happened. They both look great.

  3. I loved Code Name Verity and Let's Pretend This Never Happened is on my want-to-read list. Great choices!

  4. Ooh awesome list! There are so many books on it that I want to read - and I loved Poison Study too.

  5. We loved so many of the same books this year. I can't wait to read your top two!

  6. Kushiel's Dart is amazing. I'm so glad to see it landed on your favorites of 2012! The sequels are equally good, though I haven't read the last few most recent ones. My attention wavered once we left Phaedre!

Feel free to check out my TTT here.

  7. Let's Pretend This Never Happened is on my TBR - great title and cover! I've heard it will appeal to David Sedaris fans...and that's me! Next year I'm setting myself a challenge to read some of the books that everyone talks about and you've never got round to and Cloud Atlas is on that list for me.

    here's my list:

  8. I *adored* Poison Study! It's one of my all time favourite books. So great. I didn't enjoy the sequels as much, but I'll definitely be reading books 4-6 when they come out! EEP!

    Books of Amber

  9. I'm with you about The Song of Achilles--great book. I would never have read Cloud Atlas without the readalong and I really enjoyed it. I am presently reading Let's Pretend because I finally got it from the library and it is good as well. Next year I will probably never read anything new because I am committed to reducing my TBR pile, which is more like a mountain.

  10. I haven't read many of these, but I listened to Song of Achilles on audio and I loved it. I also have Code Name Verity on my list as well. I have been seeing it around and it looks like a good one. Tell the Wolves I'm Home and Let's Pretend... are on my shelves so glad to see those are recommended as well.

  11. Great mix of books. There are so many I want to read on this list that I've been meaning to. I'll definitely be checking out the others as well.
