“How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) Pile?”
Um, well...my answer is going to reveal my super-nerdiness but c'est la vie! I, uh, categorize my TBR by genre (I may or may not have a TBR excel spreadsheet). So, here's the breakdown:
- Literary Fiction: 148
- YA: 72
- Historical Fiction: 55
- Fantasy: 49
- Mysteries: 29
- Thrillers: 25
- Beach reads: 23
- Non-fiction/memoir: 21
- Graphic Novels: 19
- Sci-fi: 17
- Classics: 15
- Fairy tales: 14
- Southern lit: 8
- Foodie: 5
- Westerns: 4
- Horror: 2
- TOTAL: 505...yeesh!
Also, Happy Follow Friday! Again click on the pic to be taken to a whole slew of new book blogs. The question of the day:
Q. Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?
Aw, crap! What if I don't have a favorite genre? Can I just say fiction?? Um, let's see...if I look at my TBR breakdown, literary fiction, YA, and historical are my favorites. In all honesty, I think I'm just playing some major catch-up in the YA category (hence its high numbers) and I would probably replace it with fantasy. So, books that made these my favorite genres...I guess I'll have to think back to my childhood for this. Welp, for fantasy, once I read The Chronicles of Narnia as a kid I was sold! Oh, I also adored Lloyd Alexander novels -- superb children's fantasy! For historical fiction, I loved the book The Child from the Sea by Elizabeth Goudge...not sure why it was so beloved to me as I recall it wasn't exactly the happiest of books. All the same, it lead me to a most wonderful genre! As for literary fiction, the earliest example of a book I loved in this genre would have to be Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. My dad read this to me, chapter by chapter, as a bedtime story when I was a youngster and it has always had a special place in my heart. So there you have it! Thanks for hopping by and have a fantastic weekend!
WOW! Someone that finally beat me. I come in at about 475! LOL

ReplyDeleteNew follower, hopping by! (I'm your 100th follower! Congrats!)
ReplyDeleteIt really is hard to narrow it down to one genre. I love YA, and for the moment, it's dystopian. :) Fantasy is awesome as well! :)
Happy Hopping!

Hopping by from the Hop!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I love the fact that you categorize your books! I don't have anything like that. I just read from oldest to most recent. That way I don't have to hum and huh over what to read next.

ReplyDeletewow, I have a bit over 200 and I thought I was nuts LOL! so I'm in great company and will let myself be discouraged.
ReplyDeleteI keep an excel file where I add the TBR as I encounter good books on other blogs mostly, and then every Friday, I post 5 to 10 titles in the Friday Finds meme

New follower from the Follow Friday! Nice blog. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL - You *may* have a spreadsheet.
ReplyDeleteI find the more orderly I get about it the more pressure I put on myself to finish so now I just wing it and know there will always be a looming pile of books waiting to be read.
Wow...I love how you categorized the books. You do have a lot. I only have 29 to be read. Pretty manageable.

I am just not that organized. Okay I am not at all organized. I am really sticking to genre right now, although fantasy gives me a wide range. Old follower.
