Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. We share books that we've read over the past week and those we hope to read this week.
Last Week:
I decided I was in the mood for some fluffy summer reads - all of which proved to be exceedingly fun:
- Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes
- The Convenient Marriage by Georgette Heyer
- Millie's Fling by Jill Mansell
- Welcome to Harmony by Jodi Thomas
I just started The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland by Catherynne M. Valente and hope to have that finished shortly. After that, I want to get to The Dashwood Sisters Tell All by Beth Patillo. Then, I'd like to finally read Michael Koryta's The Cypress House - it's been on my TBR for far too long! Also, Koryta lives in my town and on the off-chance that I actually bump into him...well, I should be prepared, right?
And then I'll be going on vacation...which means I need to pack some books! I'm thinking of bringing along State of Wonder by Anne Patchett and The Curfew by Jesse Ball since I didn't get to them last week.
Mailbox Monday is a touring meme where book bloggers share their bookish acquisitions from the week prior. It is hosted this month by Bluestocking.
This week I made several purchases. I bought:
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace
The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix
and A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore
These all look good!!

Enjoy your books and your week.

A Dirty Job is fun book but it has a few bittersweet moments too. Until Sunday I had only finished four books, a fifth of what I was reading during spring semester. Then two things conspired to make me read more. Come see what happened.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed The Dashwood Sisters, hope you do too
ReplyDeleteThe Dashwood Sisters sounds intriguing! enjoy all your reads and your vacation.
ReplyDeleteThe Dashwood Sisters Tell All sounds like a good one. Sense and Sensibility is the first Jane Austen I ever read. I was a senior in high school. Good memories.
ReplyDeleteState of Wonder is on my list...hope you enjoy your trip and your reading.
ReplyDeleteHere's MY MONDAY MEMES POST
So jealous of all your books. I've had The Cypress House on my TBR for awhile as well. I can't wait to read State of Wober, and of course, anything by David Foster Wallace is going to be amazing. Hope you enjoy your mailbox!
ReplyDeleteI love Christopher Moore! I haven't read A Dirty Job yet, hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI tried to read Stupid Angel by Moore but I couldn't get into it. I think I wasn't in the mood for that kind of humor. But my hubby has read a few of his books.
ReplyDeleteIt's Monday
You have some interesting books lined up and I have never heard of any of them till now..lol.
ReplyDeleteHere is mine:

Nice blog you have!
Some great books here but nothing compares to Infinite Jest (imho!) It's an amazing, wonderful, hilarious book. My advice is to take your time with it, especially if you are reading it alone, not as part of a readalong, for example. But it's so worth the time. I'm actually a little jealous of the great reading experience you have ahead of you! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have some nice books to pick from to take on vacation! Enjoy them and enjoy the vacation!
ReplyDeleteLove Keyes and Thomas..great picks for the week ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat mailbox. I hope you enjoy all your reads. I've been wondering whether I should read that Garth Nix series.
ReplyDeleteThe cover of A Dirty Job made me laugh. Hope it's a good read!
ReplyDeleteSushi for Beginners is one of those book covers that I've always seen because it stood out for me so much. I should pick it up!
