Mailbox Monday and It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  We share books that we've read over the past week and those we hope to read this week.

Last week:
Erm, last week I got a bit distracted by the super-fun Pink Carnation Series.  Thus, it put a bit of a damper on my reading plans for the week...whups!
I also started reading The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt but I was super sick (think all manners of mucus horrors); thus, despite the predictable use of a similar story arch, the coziness of the Carnation series won out and had me comfortably ensconced on the couch all weekend.

This week:
I'm planning on finishing up The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt as well as -

Mailbox Monday is a  touring meme where book bloggers share their bookish acquisitions from the week prior.  It is hosted this month by MariReads.

This week I received one ARC in the mail - The Twisted Thread by Charlotte Bancon - and it looks very intriguing and a bit sinister.

I also bought a few books this past week:

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N. K. Jemisin  - love me some good fantasy!

Also, since it's the start of grilling season I picked up the yumilicious Latin Grilling by Lourdes Castro

And lastly, I bought Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

Check out the trailer here (while I am a bit of a magpie, what really sold me was: "and there's a musical").

  7. I have quite a few of the pink carnation series but haven't read them yet. I need to do that after reading how much you enjoyed them. Twisted Thread has a creepy cover. Those are some piercing eyes that gal has!

  8. Wow! When you say a series put a "damper" on your reading I think I'd hate to see when it doesn't, you got a lot of reading done! Love it! Enjoy will grayson, will grayson...it's supposed to be wonderful, plus I love David Levithan!

Hope you have a fabulous reading week and if you get a second stop my to see what I've been reading at There's A Book! :)

  10. Predictability is nice when sick. I hope you're feeling better.

My list this week is inflated with picture books that I read with my daughter and manga that I read over my morning coffee. Come see what I'm reading this week.
