Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. We share books that we've read over the past week and those we hope to read this week.
Last week:
Again, I didn't accomplish as much reading as I'd like - sometimes life just gets in the way! I squeezed in some time for:
- Heads You Lose by Lisa Lutz and David Hayward (so funny)
- Attachments by Rainbow Rowell (such a cute lil' rom-com)
This week:
I'm hoping I'll read around 4 books or so...especially since I'll be spending the holiday weekend at home! I'd like to finish:
- Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
- The Soldier's Wife by Margaret Leroy
- The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti
- Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan
Mailbox Monday is a touring meme where book bloggers share their bookish acquisitions from the week prior. It is hosted this month by MariReads.
First up, I decided I really needed to own Mary Stewart's Merlin series. I now have The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment, and The Wicked Day sitting pretty on my shelves!
I also figured that I really should have one of my most favorite YA series on hand for rereading...so I bought the paperback boxset of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy!
So pretty, right?!
Of the books you mention, I've only read Kindred, but I really enjoyed that. I do like time travel so that helps - although there wasn't much on the actual mechanisms of time travel.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's a sort-of historical fiction and really good.
Have fun this week!
I picked up Attachments in the bookstore the other day...very tempting, but I'm TRYING to be good!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I'll be spending the holiday here at home too and hope to spend it cooking out and reading. That seems like the perfect holiday to me! I have the Soldier's Wife here also. I hope we both love it.
ReplyDeleteI just recently read Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I love John Green but it was my first Levithan. I can't wait to read more of him soon, hopefully. My TBR list is miles long. BUT...I'm SUPER excited about the His Dark Materials trilogy you have there. Those are some of my favorite books of all time, which is a pretty big statement. I ADORE Iorek Byrnison. And those are really really beautiful covers. I'm a little bit jealous, but in a good, happy-for-you way. ;)
ReplyDeleteI adore Mary Stewart! I haven't read her books in quite a while, but I really should. :) Her Merlin series really was great.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Mailbox! ~ Wendi
The Soldier's Wife sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI really liked The Crystal Cave. I have the other ones on my shelf but haven't read them yet. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteYayy, I'd love to read Will Grayson, Will Grayson. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember really enjoying Mary Stewart's books once upon a time. I should pick them up again. And, I liked Pullman's imagination (even the way he created the daemon), but I can't hold with his premise against God so I didn't finish the trilogy.
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of rom-com books. I'll have to check Attachments out.
ReplyDeleteHave fun reading this week. I hope you get all 4 books read. :)
I'm a huge John Green and David Levithan fan. It will be interesting to hear what you think of Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I ended up really liking it, but not at first.
