TGIF!

Book Blogger Hop

First up, the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy-For-Books.com.  Click on the icon above to be taken to a list of book blogs...it's enjoyable to peruse and you may just find a couple of fun blogs to follow!

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked?  Which have you disliked?"
Hmm...it's really hard to think of a book-to-movie adaptation that I've actually liked.  If I give myself enough time between when I read a book and when I watch the movie adaptation I tend to like the movies a bit better.  This is probably because details of the book have faded - so what Hollywood has left out is not as glaringly obvious.

Most liked: I suppose it would be the Lord of the Rings movies and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.  The movie was very well done and kept closely to the spirit of the book - great acting too.

Most disliked: The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman.  I knew this one was going to be bad before it even came out...but, it was even worse than I thought it would be!

Also, Happy Follow Friday!  Again click on the pic to be taken to a whole slew of new book blogs.  The question of the day:

Q. How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?

Welp, it really depends on how much free time I have in a week.  Generally, I average about 3 books per week.  I'm not a big audio book person.  I never drive anywhere so I don't know when I would get the chance to listen to them!  Mostly, I read in print format but I do also read ebooks here and there (probably 1 ebook for every 3 print books).

  1. We pretty much read the same (except I average 2 a week): No audio and print over e-book. New follower.

  2. Thanks for commenting on my blog!

My book club recently read Never Let Me Go and we were all kind of indifferent towards it, but when we met up and after we discussed the book we watched the movie together. It was so funny because everyone was yelling at the screen that we were so glad the characters were actually showing emotions!

And I liked the Golden Compass, but I haven't read the books yet.

I LOVE audio books! That is how I read half the books I get through. I listen to one in my car and one while I'm getting ready to fall asleep. Then I usually have another two books I'm actually reading.

    Have a great weekend.

  3. What I liked about the book Never Let Me Go was the fact that I had no idea what was going on and it was a slow reveal. So that was sort of spoiled when I watched the film. Also they gave some of Tommy's important lines to Ruth which I disliked.

  4. I'm just reading Never Let Me Go at the moment. I think I've grasped what's going on but am planning some quality Friday afternoon time to really immerse myself in it! I'll be interested to see the movie except both Keira Knightly and Carey Mulligan drive me nuts as actresses so it's not looking very promising so far! ;)
PS: Your Friday finds look great. I particularly like the look of "No More Dirty Looks"

  6. @ BookBelle: thanks for the follow!

@Bittner: The Golden Compass book (and sequels) are soooo much better! I highly recommend checking them out!

@ Ellie: Yeah, the line-switching wasn't the best. Someone spoiled Never Let Me Go for me...so I knew what was happening while I was reading. I think it would have made a huge difference if it hadn't been spoiled :(

@ The Book Gatherer: sometimes I'm not a fan of Keira and sometimes I am...in the movie she plays Ruth...see what you think of that casting as you read the book :) Hope you have a great afternoon of reading!

  7. LOTR was pretty great. Good books. Good movies. I've never seen or read Never Let Me Go, but the movie poster makes me want to. I'll have to check it out.

  9. Stopping by from the blog hop.

Stop by my blog if you like...I usually prefer books to the movie version.
